The studio of Alice Cecchini and Roman Joliy, Atelier Poem, has designed this open shelter for Foresta Collective. The group operates between Germany and Spain and promotes education based on direct experience with nature. The project is a spatial response to an agroforestry program that plans to plant more than a thousand trees on five hectares of land in Cabranes (Asturias).
Taller Agropoético addresses two functional needs. On the one hand, it provides a covered, flexible, and open space for workshops, meetings, and community activities related to work in the area. On the other, it incorporates an area for storing the tools required for planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Both functions are resolved in a single 50 m² volume, designed in close dialogue with the surrounding rural landscape.
The pavilion is based on a study of Asturian vernacular architecture, with special reference to hórreos (raised granaries), reinterpreted on a contemporary note. Economy is a central principle: simple materials like wood and sheet metal are used, in a basic geometry and a rational structural system.
Taking advantage of the natural slope of the terrain, the pavilion is raised on bearing blocks that minimize its footprint on the ground. This solution protects the timber structures from moisture and allows vegetation, microfauna, and natural cycles to continue under the construction. The main floor is configured as an open and permeable classroom, where the rhythm of pillars organizes the space and establishes a direct and fragmented relationship with the territory.
