Designed and built for Expo 2025 Osaka, the huge wooden structure in the shape of a ring is conceived as a symbolic piece that represents the unity of all the participating countries. It also marks a clear boundary in the diffuse territory of the artificial island of Yumeshima, a reclaimed area in the bay of the Japanese port city and that was up to now a large infrastructural void. The building creates an annular layout that surrounds the whole complex and allows free-flowing movement through the site thanks to its dual circulation route, one at ground level...
