Snøhetta and the Danish firm Ege Carpets have developed MATTER, a collection of recycled polyster rugs in two chromatic palettes and that integrates generative codes into textile manufacturing. The project uses an algorithm that controls variation and density parameters to produce non-repetitive patterns, translated directly to Ege’s high-precision jacquard looms. Compared to conventional modular designs, MATTER generates continuous sequences that change gradually.
