
Leaving aside the debate on whether some of his best-known photographs were faked, there is no question that the Hungarian-American Robert Capa had an exceedingly keen eye for capturing the rawest, but also most human, aspect of every instant. Always dazzling, his photojournalistic work returns to Madrid’s Círculo de Bellas Artes with a major retrospective that can be visited in the building’s Picasso Hall until 25 January, in this case featuring publications of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to highlight the massive circulation that his images had in their day, and the impact that ultimately made them timeless icons.
