As the tireless worker she was, death visited Dulce Xerach during a professional trip to Madrid. Despite this painfully premature departure, she has left a deep mark on the politics, culture, and architecture of her homeland. A Law graduate, she was a member of the Council of Tenerife and of the Government of the Canary Islands. From these posts she promoted initiatives such as the TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes), El Tanque space, and the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santa Cruz, which she came to preside. As a PhD in Architecture and partner of Fernando Menis, she was a staunch advocate of the islands’ heritage and the need for responsible practice. That is what she defended in Arquitectura con derecho(s), an essay that wraps up a rich body of work including newspaper articles and even crime novels.
